I called the tandem Meatball Mulligan's 48 Hour Party, from the Thomas Pynchon short story called "Entropy". Why? I thought the bike looked like a riotous party, what with the pretty random colors all over it.
"The Party Bike" or "Meatball (Mulligan)" for short.
This being Hampshire, I'm sure some one is bound to get the reference sooner or later.
BTW, "yellow bike" is a service on campus that fixes up beat up old bikes, paints them yellow, and leaves them out for people to use. I really don't know why they haven't been yellow lately, but even if it isn't its always very clearly a "yellow" bike.
that bike is legit. it also has an awesome name, even if I didn't get the reference.
Arcata used to have green bikes, but the bike library shut its doors awhile back. I do see two guys riding a tandem around my neighborhood all the time, though, and it makes me smile.
